A bit about me
I’m Lola - a mum, native north Londoner and registered nutritionist specialising on women’s health.
I fleetingly worked as a junior executive in the music industry until I realised that a higher purpose lay somewhere between medicine, healthcare, food and education so I went on to study a BSc hons in Health Sciences/Nutritional Therapy, graduating in 2011.
Alongside my private practice, I was keen to work with harder to reach groups and briefly worked within the NHS and with NHS funded nutrition initiatives for young people and vulnerable women. I have a special interest in hormonal health from premenopause + perimenopause health and supporting skin health thorough these stages. The hormone space is a central focus of my research and clinical practice and in 2017, with our drive to help revolutionise women’s healthcare, I co founded Moody Month - bridging hormone science with tracking technology.
Values + perspectives
Although my practice focuses on women’s health I run a totally inclusive practice so do get in touch if you think we might be a good fit…
I am from a mixed African, Caribbean and white British background, have lived in the UK all my life and spent a couple of years in wild and beautiful Trinidad. I have a personal interest in nutrigenomics, the effects of changing diets in diasporic communities, and I approach nutritional therapy in a culturally-conscious way to support the needs of all of my patients.
We can be overwhelmed by the offering of gorgeous nutrition products but my recommendations are not focused on trend-led wellness, I like to use local everyday resources first, and functional evidenced-based supplementary products to help supercharge your plan when required.
Earth-care, ethics and good practice
Our wellbeing is deeply connected to the earth and I encourage connecting with nature to support whole-body health in the ways that work for you. I try to incorporate earth-caring solutions into my recommendations where I can, including waste-less, sourcing locally-produced foods, supplements and plant-food focused eating is encouraged for both human and planetary health.
Good practice
Continued professional development is a cornerstone of practitioner growth and responsibility to those we work with. As a health practitioner the importance of keeping up to date with new science, public health issues and food industry developments is an essential part of good practice. I attend practitioner training and education events throughout the year and stay on top of the science around food trends.
